One might expect the village hall in a sleepy Shropshire village to be home to scout groups, girl guides and the occasional jumble sale. But all was not what it seems at the hall in Waters Upton, Telford.
Unbeknownst to the management committee, professional dominatrix Sophie Allen was busy plying her trade at the hall under her stage name of Mistress Tia.
Sadomasochist Sophie hired the hall where she offered caning, verbal abuse, flogging, waxing, whipping and boot worship to her willing "slaves".
Writing on her website, Mistress Tia said: "Been getting ready for my production shoot tomorrow, can't wait, got loads of new slaves coming, putting some really great ideas into practice."
She went on: "Hired out the village hall again in Telford which is a really big place with nice wooden floors which really accentuate the sound of my heels."
Ms Allen, 27, charges £80 for 30 minutes of slavery or £150 for an hour-long session.
But the news came as something of a shock to some of the locals and Mistress Tia has now been banned from the village hall.
Darren Morgan, the local butcher, told Metro: "I am shocked to hear of such lurid activities."
Katrina Baker, chairman of the hall management committee, explained that the booking had been placed by a man claiming to need the hall "for auditions".
It wasn't until managers realised that the man was, in fact, Mistress Tia's business partner that the committee rethought their decision.
However, not all the villagers were so concerned. One remarked: "As long as they keep away from us, they can do what they like."

arr HARR! The very best little news story this year.
"as long as they keep away from us, they can do what they like"
I adore how the Telford man assumed they would all be after his body were they not restricted to the Village Hall.
This is proper vintage Red Top stuff. And if they had bunged in a comment from a member of the neighbouring village's W.I., that would have been the cherry.
Will tunre in tonight to see if news at 10 has any interviews. I'm guessing the Madam looks nothing like that picture.

I personally take a very casual view of activities such as these, most of us are aware that interests such as these are very much alive, our television sets and radios make us more than aware of that. I assume many of the residents of this sleepy village watch the news on a regular basis and in doing so, expose themselves to much more horrific and taboo subjects on a daily basis. With this in mind is it surely not more socially acceptable to allow these activities to continue, the subject is evidently not being forced into the village but merely held captive in the town hall away from more sensitive eyes and ears. As one villager has commented, 'as long as they stay away from us they can do what they want'. I believe this is a very healthy viewpoint and should be adopted by many more residents of small or sleepy villages. By keeping a healthy open mind one can quench the nibbling, biting issues and agenda's that can errupt so easily within small communities. It seems clear that the town commitee have banned Mistress Tia merely based on the activities she promotes to her selective audience. In the same instance is it not then acceptable for aethiest members the town commitee to attempt to ban those who promote religion, or those worried about child safety to abolish scout meetings? This sort of issue requires more forthought andf consideration not merely the comical local quibblings made clear to us in soaps such as the 'vicar of dibley'.

As long as she pays rent for the hall's use, and the people who turn up are all consenting adults, exactly who is she harming? The hypocrisy this country has in such things is almost funny. It's acceptable it seems to show on televison, gormless, feckless and frankly needy people having stand up arguments washing their linen in public on such debacles as Jeremy Kyle, Trisha etc; yet behind closed doors in a private environment it's unacceptable? Am I missing something?

... yes you are...
I was in my teens in the sixties and along with many others, sneered at those who recoiled from the 'anything goes' society. I was wrong.
You'll need to wait a couple of decades to see 'what you're missing'. Of course it'll be too late by then. I could answer your question but you'd just sneer too - just as I did.

I'm well into middle age, so I'm hardly at a stage where I need to be patronised. The question hasn't been answered. Who said anything about 'anything goes'? And even it was, as long as it dosn't involve children, animals or non consenting adults, exactly who is being harmed? There are far worse things that are deemed as acceptable by Outraged of Chipping Norton, than a dominatrix catering for consenting adults. When the government (local and national) make plans to curtail the 33000 deaths resulting from alcohol and the 120000 from smoking, often to non participants, then we can start getting all prissy about adults having fun in a private setting.

You're sneering at me old chap as I expected. Serves me right for expressing an opinion. I thought you were young but you're just an unreconstructed liberal and complicit in the slow motion crash that is Britain - take a bow.

Sneering? Not at all.. I was simply pointing out the dichotomy of our hypocritical society, such as it is. An unreconstructed liberal complicit in the countrys distruction? You flatter my abilities sir; I must however yield to the mainly faceless and ammoral oafs who hide behind ivory towers for that accolade. Thankfully, my construction is such that I address the comment and the thread, not the person behind it. After all, it would be unfair to think you were a frustrated and intolerant old duffer, now wouldn't it?
