Fitflops, the shoe that promised a work-out while you walk, may have seemed like an unlikely hit. But they proved something of a phenomenon during the summer months. And there's more good news, girls. They're now available in a lovely warm boot variety.
The idea of the Fitflop was that the curved sole encouraged the wearer to make use of their core bottom, thigh and calf muscles in order to maintain their balance, thereby body toning without all that painful gym equipment.
Even the celebrities were getting involved, with Julianne Moore, Carly Zucker and Jessica Biel all snapped wearing a pair.
Summer, however, is well and truly over. Enter the Mukluk.
This snugly boot, more than a little reminiscent of Uggs, can be worn at calf height or with the woollen lining rolled down to the ankle and promises all the same benefits as the Fitflop.
There's even a moon boot version called the Snugger.
It might feel like you are continuously walking uphill, but the shoe is rumoured to improve posture, ease foot and back pain and even help conditions such as sciatica and osteoarthritis.
While the Mukluk costs £125 and the Snugger £85, you'll save yourself a considerable amount on that post-Christmas, unused gym membership.

I’ve worn my Fitflops since May when my friend pointed them out to me on holiday in the Lakes. We decided to spend the £45 (ouch) on a pair to see if they would help with my knees as I have torn cartilage. Well, my legs do feel stronger which can only be of benefit when you have bad knees and my husband insists that my legs look so much better too, which of course has a knock-on benefit!fitflops
